New Agent Resource: Updated CMS Model Consent Form and Scripts for Consumer Eligibility Review

In response to feedback from agents and brokers, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has published a revised model consent form to help agents meet the requirements for documenting consumers’ consent and review and confirmation of their eligibility application information.

Doubling Down on Private Practice Support, VSP Vision Simplifies and Enhances Provider Programs

Updates to VSP Premier Edge and PECAA Max to take effect Jan. 1, 2026

VSP Vision announced it is simplifying and enhancing the VSP Premier Edge and Professional Eye Care Associates of America PECAA Max programs to deliver more value and industry-leading support for private practice. The changes, taking effect on January 1, 2026, will streamline and clarify the services offered with each program, making it easier for providers to identify and adopt the programs that best fit their needs.

Sonder Health Plans Placed into Receivership August 13

Sonder Health Plans, Inc. was placed into receivership by order of the Superior Court of Fulton County on August 13, 2025. Sonder had previously consented to administrative supervision to try to cure its surplus deficiency.

Upon monitoring by the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire, it was determined that continued operation was not possible without putting policyholders and providers at risk.

Policyholders of Sonder Health Plans policy (i.e., Medicare Advantage(MA), Chronic Special Needs Plan, or Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan) will not lose their Medicare, but their Sonder Medicare Advantage plan will terminate effective October 1, 2025.  

A Special Enrollment Period (SEP) has been established for policyholders to either choose another Medicare Advantage plan, or be covered by Original Medicare and automatically enrolled in a Medicare D drug plan. 

IMPORTANT DATES 

August 13 through October 31: Special Enrollment Period 

September 30: Last day policyholders may opt to enroll in a new MA plan  

October 1: All Sonder Health Plans are terminated 

October 15 through December 7: 2026 Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment

Humana Accelerates Efforts to Eliminate Prior Authorization Requirements to Ensure a Faster, More Seamless Process

Humana has announced they have accelerated efforts to approve care requests as quickly as possible and reduce the administrative burden for physicians associated with prior authorization. These actions will reduce the number of prior authorization requirements, making the process faster and more seamless, while preserving the system of checks and balances that protects patient safety by ensuring the most high-cost, high-risk treatments are reviewed and approved before care is delivered.
